are settled: replacement cost and actual cash value.
Actual Cash Value – This method costs less, but also
pays less, since it accounts for depreciation. For example,
if you bought the latest digital camera for $350 three years
ago, you might only be reimbursed $80 for it today. Basically,
you are paid the cost of buying that same camera with three
years worth of wear and tear.
Replacement Cost – Unlike many insurance companies, we
offer policies that will pay you the dollar amount it costs
to replace your possessions today, without any deduction
for depreciation. This coverage comes at a higher cost,
but reimburses you the full cost of the item purchased new,
subject to your deductible.
